Responsibilities

- Lead the design of end-to-end API strategies covering the full lifecycle, from initial design and OpenAPI documentation through security policy enforcement and graceful retirement - Partner with C-level stakeholders and enterprise architects to articulate the business value of an API-first approach, with emphasis on security, scalability, and productizing data assets - Serve as a subject matter expert on enterprise security protocols such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and JWT, ensuring gateway deployments satisfy stringent compliance and governance requirements - Architect developer portals that make internal and external APIs discoverable and consumable, fostering innovation across the client's ecosystem - Coordinate cross-functional teams of specialists to run complex proof-of-concept engagements and author authoritative responses to demanding RFI and RFP technical requirements - Demonstrate how API management, iPaaS, and master data management intersect, ensuring that designed APIs act as the trusted delivery mechanism for high-integrity enterprise records

Requirements

- Extensive experience with API lifecycle management and high-performance API gateways operating in complex, distributed environments - Deep technical proficiency with modern identity providers and security frameworks, including practical strategies for mitigating risk at the network edge - Proven ability to architect solutions that incorporate microservices, service mesh, and event-driven architectures - Demonstrated track record of consultative selling, translating technical capabilities into measurable business outcomes - Strong executive communication and influence skills, with experience aligning technical strategy to enterprise priorities

Nice to have

- Advanced proficiency with major cloud ecosystems such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and with enterprise API suites like MuleSoft, Apigee, or Kong - Industry credentials in cloud architecture, information security (for example CISSP or CCSP), or enterprise frameworks such as TOGAF - Familiarity with the security and orchestration of AI-driven APIs and large language model integrations - Hands-on knowledge of data integration platforms and master data management solutions and how they feed API-led connectivity strategies - Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field such as computer science, mathematics, or engineering
