Remote job
Staff AI Enablement Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview Make AI genuinely useful across a large engineering, product, and design organization. This senior individual contributor role on a Platform team owns the AI enablement roadmap in practice: turning it into working internal tools, driving adoption, and proving measurable impact. The work blends hands-on building with change management, and reports to an engineering manager who sets direction.
Responsibilities - Translate the AI enablement roadmap into shipped software: deciding what to adopt, what to build internally, in what order, and how success will be measured. - Build the internal AI stack hands-on, including coding agents and workflow automations, MCP connectors into systems of record, shared prompt and skill libraries, and a governed knowledge layer that gives every AI surface company context. - Stand up and maintain isolated experimentation environments using infrastructure as code, with the ability to tear down and rebuild quickly and securely. - Ship experiments first and double down on what works, iterating based on real usage rather than theory. - Drive behavior change across a medium-to-large organization through champion programs, enablement content, training, and an operating rhythm that maintains momentum after launch announcements. - Navigate data privacy, safe-use policy, vendor evaluation, and access control workstreams, shipping inside approval processes rather than around them.
Requirements - 6+ years in fast-moving technology organizations, including hands-on software engineering in platform engineering, developer experience, internal tools, or infrastructure. - Daily, production-level fluency with the modern AI stack: coding agents, MCP servers and connectors, prompt and context engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, and workflow automation platforms. - Demonstrable infrastructure competence with Terraform or equivalent infrastructure as code, a major cloud provider, and secrets and access management. - Comfort reasoning about CI/CD pipelines, including cost, latency, and failure modes, not just prompts. - Demonstrated change management experience across a medium-to-large organization, including programs that kept momentum after launch. - Governance fluency with the judgment to move quickly inside a regulated environment, with a track record of shipping something real through an approval process. - Self-starter who operates with autonomy once greenlit and knows when to escalate.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-first; candidates in any time zone welcome, with work aligned to PST hours. - Travel up to three times per year to a San Jose, CA office plus one company-wide offsite, with expenses covered. - Base salary range of $170,000–$215,000, plus eligibility for a performance bonus. - Health, dental, and vision coverage, and 401k with employer matching. - Wellness perks including free therapy, employee wellness resources, and a hardware or software budget for productive setup. - Equal opportunity employer with no discrimination on the basis of age, race, ethnicity, religion, sex, color, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, medical condition, marital status, parental status, disability, or veteran status.
