About this role

Role overview A founding senior electrical engineering role on a small hardware team building mission-critical connected devices for the public safety and emergency response sector. The role spans the full hardware lifecycle — from concept and schematic capture through validation, certification, and mass production — with significant ownership over architecture and engineering standards.

Responsibilities - Develop mixed-signal schematics and drive PCB layout for application processors, RF transceivers, power management, battery charging, memory, and high-speed digital interfaces. - Design and validate RF and radio subsystems across multiple wireless technologies, tackling coexistence, interference, isolation, and electromagnetic compatibility. - Collaborate with mechanical and industrial design teams to optimize board layout, component placement, antenna integration, and overall form factor within tight physical constraints. - Bring up, characterize, and debug hardware using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, power supplies, and similar test gear. - Drive component selection, BOM ownership, design documentation, verification, and electrical readiness from concept through certification and ramp. - Provide technical direction to fellow engineers and external design partners, reviewing work and driving hardware objectives to completion.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related discipline, plus 7+ years of embedded electronics design experience. - Track record with high-speed, high-density, battery-powered, or low-power system design. - Hands-on proficiency with PCB design and layout, RF integration and coexistence, mechanical integration, and hardware bring-up/debugging for highly integrated products. - Experience across embedded subsystems including application processors, microcontrollers, high-speed memory, power delivery, battery/charging circuitry, wireless/RF, and wired interfaces. - Strong grasp of RF coexistence and interference across cellular and regulated frequency bands, plus signal integrity, power integrity, and EMC considerations. - Proficiency with Cadence OrCAD and Allegro, plus standard electrical and RF bench equipment. - Experience designing rigid, flex, or rigid-flex PCBs within tight mechanical constraints and meeting U.S. and international hardware/wireless regulatory requirements.

Benefits and work setup Remote-eligible position with relocation assistance available, working on technology that supports modern 911 infrastructure and AI-enhanced emergency response capabilities.
