Sr/Staff Site Reliability Engineer, Consumer Apps

Role overview

Build and operate the cloud infrastructure, automation, and engineering tools that support consumer applications and their backend services. The focus is reliability at scale: reducing operational toil, improving observability and developer experience, and preparing systems for growth. This senior or staff-level individual contributor role works closely with engineering teams across the organization; a remote arrangement may be considered, while some office locations follow a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

- Replace repetitive manual operations with durable automation, including by directing and verifying AI coding agents. - Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code modules and deployment pipelines, along with charts for Kubernetes services and jobs. - Set up service-mesh metrics, network policies, and routing, and monitor cloud databases and other platform components. - Improve system visibility through metrics, dashboards, and alerts, and partner with engineering leads to instrument critical features. - Maintain and improve CI/CD, and evaluate cloud services, vendors, AI tools, and open-source projects for operational and security improvements. - Contribute to architecture and capacity planning so systems remain scalable, maintainable, reliable, and secure.

Requirements

- Six or more years building and operating large-scale cloud-native infrastructure on AWS and/or GCP. - Practical experience directing AI coding agents on infrastructure work, with sound judgment about reviewing and verifying their output. - A track record of turning manual operational work into reliable automation. - Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Istio or a comparable service mesh. - Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code, observability, and CI/CD; Terraform, Prometheus, and Grafana are among the tools used in this environment. - Strong software engineering fundamentals and ability to learn, collaborate, and provide and receive constructive feedback.

Nice to have

- Experience with SQL databases, streaming and pub/sub systems, or serverless computing. - Familiarity with SOC 2 and PCI compliance requirements. - Comfort experimenting with new technologies and working across a broad range of infrastructure needs.
