About this role
Role overview
Lead commissioning for modular data center deployments supporting demanding computing workloads. This hands-on role spans factory testing, site start-up, integrated systems testing, and operational handover, while establishing repeatable procedures and feeding field lessons back into product engineering.
Responsibilities - Create a commissioning program covering plans, readiness checklists, functional test scripts, integrated testing, and turnover standards across commissioning levels 1–5. - Plan and lead factory acceptance tests for complete modules and major electrical, cooling, storage, and controls equipment. - Direct site inspections, start-up, functional testing, load-bank tests, transfer and failure scenarios, cooling-system verification, and integrated systems testing. - Write and run procedures, review trend and power-quality data, troubleshoot issues across electrical, mechanical, and controls systems, and track findings through resolution. - Coordinate customers, independent commissioning agents, contractors, and equipment vendors, including test schedules, readiness reviews, and start-up activities. - Prepare handover records, test results, operating documents, warranties, and training materials; share lessons and test data with engineering teams.
Requirements - Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, a related field, or equivalent hands-on commissioning experience. - At least 8 years commissioning mission-critical facilities, including 5 years on data center projects and leadership of functional testing and integrated systems testing. - Deep practical expertise in either electrical distribution and backup power systems or mechanical cooling and controls, with working knowledge of the other discipline. - Familiarity with commissioning standards and relevant electrical and life-safety codes; ability to write plans, test scripts, and turnover documentation. - Able to work independently while establishing procedures, and willing to travel about 40–50% to sites, factories, and vendor locations.
Nice to have
Commissioning credentials or a professional engineering license; experience with liquid cooling, battery storage, high-density computing power behavior, utility interconnection, large facilities, commissioning platforms, construction tools, and electrical test equipment. Safety training is also valued.
