Entry- to Mid-Level Model-Based Systems Engineer

Role overview Support a multidisciplinary team delivering systems engineering and software development for critical U.S. Navy submarine programs. The position focuses on Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), helping translate traditional engineering workflows into modern digital-engineering practices that improve how complex naval systems are designed and documented.

Responsibilities - Build system architectures and behavior models using MBSE tools such as Cameo to describe Navy submarine systems. - Apply digital-engineering approaches to modernize legacy engineering processes and artifacts. - Contribute to requirements development, management, performance metrics tracking, and overall systems-engineering process execution. - Develop and refine system models using SysML, commercial modeling platforms, scripting languages, and macros. - Partner with cross-functional engineering and development teams to align MBSE efforts, perform feature impact analyses, and decompose features into model updates. - Support requirements verification, compliance assessments, model-generated documentation, and continuous process-improvement initiatives.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related technical/scientific field such as engineering, computer science, or another STEM discipline. - 0–2 years of relevant systems engineering or closely related experience. - Foundational understanding of systems engineering and digital engineering concepts, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word plus collaboration platforms such as Confluence, SharePoint, or Teams. - Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software and technical concepts, with strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. - Eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.

Nice to have - Hands-on experience with MBSE tools beyond Cameo, including Rhapsody, MagicDraw, NoMagic, TeamWork Cloud, or Cameo Collaborator. - Familiarity with descriptive modeling languages such as SysML and UML, and with Velocity Template Language (VTL) for custom report generation. - Programming experience in object-oriented languages such as Groovy, Python, C++, or Java. - Comfort with Atlassian tools like Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket, and with CMMI or similar process-improvement frameworks. - Prior exposure to Agile/Scrum environments and to DoD work involving submarine systems.
