Remote job
Technical Product Manager, Life Sciences
Job details
About this role
Role overview
Own the technical product work for a life sciences portfolio built on complex healthcare data and platform capabilities. This hands-on role connects product strategy with engineering execution: translating customer needs into clear requirements, making informed scope and technical tradeoffs, and guiding a roadmap that balances delivery with platform health.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of a product area's backlog and prioritize work using customer value, business outcomes, and technical impact. - Partner closely with engineers in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and delivery, clarifying requirements and resolving scope questions. - Build working knowledge of the platform architecture, data model, and the engineering team's technical stack. - Lead technical discovery, including data investigations, feasibility checks, and discussions of pipeline architecture. - Deliver meaningful product increments on a reliable cadence and establish metrics to track product and delivery outcomes. - Shape longer-term roadmap decisions, identifying opportunities to improve data quality, reduce technical debt, and expand platform capabilities.
Requirements
- Product management experience that combines product craft with sufficient technical depth to engage directly in engineering discussions. - Ability to translate customer and business needs into prioritized backlogs, clear requirements, and practical delivery decisions. - Comfort discussing data, implementation tradeoffs, and pipeline architecture with engineering teams. - Skill in building trusted working relationships across product, engineering, and business stakeholders. - Ability to use product and delivery metrics to guide prioritization and communicate progress.
Role expectations
The first months focus on learning the platform and team, establishing credibility with engineering, and taking ownership of a backlog. Over time, the product manager is expected to deliver roadmap increments, become a technical subject-matter resource for the portfolio, and help improve product and engineering practices.
