Lead AI Developer Tooling Engineer

Role overview Lead the design and delivery of the internal developer tooling that powers AI-driven automation across a large enterprise platform. The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, building IDE integrations, CLIs, code analysis, and CI/CD workflows, and weaving AI capabilities into the daily flow of engineering teams.

Responsibilities - Architect, build, and optimize developer-facing tools and services while staying close to the code as a senior individual contributor. - Design and ship IDE integrations, CLIs, code-analysis utilities, and CI/CD tooling that treats developer experience as a first-class product. - Use AI coding assistants as a force multiplier, generating and critically reviewing AI-assisted code to move faster without sacrificing quality. - Expose AI capabilities to developers through workflows that are fast, understandable, and debuggable, building trust through transparency. - Manage availability, latency, and efficiency by engineering deep reliability into developer tooling and performing advanced system tuning. - Drive engineering excellence through rigorous code review, automation frameworks, and shared best practices across the department. - Mentor junior engineers on software craftsmanship and contribute expert knowledge through durable technical documentation.

Requirements - Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related technical discipline. - 7+ years of relevant software development experience with a BS, or 5+ years paired with a Master of Science in Computer Science or a related field. - Experience building IDE, CLI, code-analysis, CI/CD, or developer-experience tools. - Strong understanding of language servers, parsers, build systems, source control, and diagnostics. - Working knowledge of local and remote execution, telemetry, privacy, and enterprise deployment constraints. - Demonstrated experience using AI coding assistants and selectively applying AI-generated code in production engineering. - Proven track record developing, optimizing, and maintaining high-volume, mission-critical production services. - Experience developing and operating services on public cloud infrastructure. - Excellent ability to communicate highly technical architectures to diverse engineering audiences.

Nice to have - Familiarity with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce or ServiceNow, which translates well into enterprise orchestration environments.
