Role overview The Senior SAP Basis Engineer owns the technical delivery of support and enhancement work across client SAP landscapes and satellite systems. Acting as a primary delivery contact for assigned accounts, the engineer partners with client technical staff and internal delivery teams to keep mission-critical environments healthy. The position is fully remote within the United States and requires U.S. citizenship.
Responsibilities - Plan and schedule client maintenance, upgrades, and patching windows - Serve as the main technical point of contact for assigned client accounts - Execute SAP migrations, landscape refreshes, backup and recovery, and high-availability configuration work - Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and lead root cause analysis alongside development teams - Build and maintain documentation covering procedures, runbooks, and problem resolution history - Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continual improvement of operational workflows
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Sciences, or equivalent experience - 8–10 years of hands-on SAP Basis engineering experience - 3+ years operating in a 24x7 service provider or advanced IT organization - Solid background administering SAP HANA and SAP Sybase databases - Understanding of SAP security principles and Linux-based environments
Nice to have - Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ansible, and configuration management tooling - Familiarity with agile engineering practices such as Kanban and continuous delivery - Working knowledge of ITSM platforms, ServiceNow preferred - Exposure to AWS and Azure commercial or government cloud services - Development experience with Python or Java
