About this role
Role overview This contract, part-time position contributes to a project producing high-quality STEM training data used to train and evaluate frontier AI models. The role focuses on designing mathematically rigorous, deterministic problems that genuinely challenge state-of-the-art systems, with each problem requiring exactly one verifiable correct answer and a complete, verified solution.
Responsibilities - Design advanced mathematical problems used in AI training and evaluation pipelines - Create deterministic problems with exactly one correct, verifiable answer - Write complete, verified solutions with clearly documented reasoning - Develop problems that test deep mathematical reasoning rather than rote memorization - Use Python or specialized tools to build computational workflows where relevant - Ensure all outputs are technically precise, reproducible, and clearly written in English
Requirements - Master's or PhD in Mathematics or a closely related field - Strong research or industry experience in mathematical modeling, proof-based reasoning, applied mathematics, or computational mathematics - Strong Python skills with comfort using libraries such as numpy, scipy, or pandas - Solid grasp of algorithms, numerical methods, and computational approaches - Ability to design original, difficult problems that mirror real mathematical workflows - Excellent attention to detail and strong technical writing skills in English
Nice to have - Experience with symbolic math systems, theorem provers, optimization solvers, or other mathematical software - Background in olympiad-level, graduate-level, or research-level problem design - Experience evaluating model reasoning, benchmarking, or technical assessment design
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote - Contract / part-time position - Commitment of 20 hours per week - Compensation up to $40 USD per hour - Project duration of 2 months, with potential for extension - Immediate start available
