Chief AI Engineer — ARPEE

Role overview

A senior engineering leader is needed to take full ownership of an open-source ERP platform: its architecture, public roadmap, and the correctness of every code path that handles money, inventory, or tax. The platform is built largely by AI coding agents under human review gates, and this role is that gate, sequencing the build queue across modules such as manufacturing, HR, and point of sale. Beyond the technical work, the role grows the open-source community around the project and represents it publicly.

Responsibilities

- Define and evolve the platform's overall architecture and the addon patterns every future module must follow. - Author specifications that AI coding agents can execute, then run plan-review and code-review gates at volume with real rigor rather than rubber-stamping. - Own correctness for all money-touching logic: double-entry accounting, tax computation, inventory valuation, reconciliation, and related financial invariants. - Sequence and prioritize the build queue across modules such as manufacturing, HR, and point of sale. - Build verification harnesses and evaluation suites that make agent-written business logic provably correct. - Grow the contributor community around the open-source project and represent it publicly.

Requirements

- Multiple years of shipping and maintaining open-source ERP modules in production, on projects comparable to Odoo, Tryton, or ERPNext. - Demonstrated experience with the hard parts of ERP: data migrations, fiscal localizations, inventory revaluations, and year-end closes. - Engineering-level command of accounting semantics, including double-entry bookkeeping, reconciliation, tax computation, FIFO/AVCO valuation, and revenue recognition. - Expert Python and Django, with strong API design instincts; GraphQL required, MCP a plus. - Daily hands-on use of AI coding agents such as Claude Code and Codex as part of a disciplined review workflow. - A public open-source track record and fluency with AGPL licensing norms.

Nice to have

- REBAC or other authorization-system experience. - Familiarity with LLM evaluation tooling. - A maintainer role in a significant open-source project.
