About this role
Role overview Combine applied quantitative research with the development of shared analytic tools. Roughly half the work supports teams adopting reusable tools and responsible machine learning applications; the other half involves leading analyses for research and evaluation projects. The role translates technical results into practical products for clients, partners, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities - Build and maintain reusable code libraries, project templates, and analytic pipelines for research teams. - Create documentation, training materials, and onboarding guidance, and help colleagues troubleshoot new workflows. - Prototype and assess tools, including machine learning and large language model applications, for appropriate and responsible use. - Lead or contribute to quantitative analyses using causal and non-causal methods, and take part in study design and analytic planning. - Manage and quality-check complex datasets; establish reproducible workflows and review junior colleagues’ analytic code. - Draft analytic content for reports, technical memos, and presentations, explain findings to non-technical audiences, and track deliverables.
Requirements - Recently completed or near completion of a master’s or doctoral degree in a quantitative field, with coursework or applied experience in causal inference and statistical modeling. - Proficiency in R and/or Python, plus working knowledge of Stata. - Experience with complex survey data, sampling, and large administrative, longitudinal, or linked datasets. - Familiarity with quantitative research in education, health, or social policy, and with data such as surveys, administrative records, program data, or text. - Familiarity with Git and GitHub, reproducible research practices, and code used by others. - Interest in supporting colleagues who use shared tools, and experience or familiarity with machine learning and AI methods.
Benefits and work setup Remote work is available within the United States, excluding U.S. territories, or from a U.S. office. The anticipated annual salary range for U.S.-based candidates is $114,000–$140,000.
