Remote job
Data Scientist (w/m/d) – Applied AI
Job details
About this role
Role overview Investigate applied AI and machine learning questions, taking promising ideas from research and data exploration through tested prototypes that engineering can develop into products. The role offers two possible focus areas: agents that retrieve and reason over large document collections, or predictive modeling at scale using measurement data from many devices. Either path involves careful evaluation, attention to uncertainty, and hands-on experimentation.
Responsibilities - Develop agents that find and connect information across large collections of documents. - Evaluate whether answers are complete, supported by reliable sources, and transparent about contradictions or uncertainty. - Build models to forecast advertising performance and assess their limitations and measurement error. - Process large datasets with Spark and investigate how data quality and processing choices affect results. - Form hypotheses, design meaningful experiments, and turn findings into robust prototypes. - Work with engineering to move validated prototypes toward production.
Requirements - Ability to investigate technical ideas in research papers, repositories, and source code. - Skill in forming testable hypotheses and critically evaluating experimental results. - Experience or demonstrated ability in applied AI, machine learning, data analysis, or related technical work. - A careful approach to model quality, uncertainty, data quality, and reproducibility. - Ability to work independently and explain technical findings to collaborators. - Portfolio, side project, or demo repository showing how you approach and implement technical solutions.
Benefits and work setup - Linux, open-source, and free-software environment with access to in-house GPU infrastructure. - 30 days of annual leave, plus December 24 and 31 off; flexible Fridays may allow a four-day week. - Public transport and bike benefits, sports and health offerings, mental health support, and professional development through events and conferences. - Regular team meetups take place in Germany, and travel to attend is part of the role.
