Role overview
Provide field-based technical support to customers operating packaging machinery and using packaging films or shrink-bag materials. The role focuses on troubleshooting equipment and material issues, improving packaging performance, supporting installations and trials, and maintaining strong customer relationships. It is remote within Canada and involves frequent travel.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve common mechanical and electrical problems affecting packaging equipment. - Inspect and service customer machinery, films, and shrink-bag materials to support reliable performance. - Investigate packaging or machine issues and communicate findings to the appropriate technical and commercial contacts. - Perform machine, package, and shrink-bag audits and participate in trials of new packaging materials. - Support equipment installation, commissioning, and start-up activities, including systems supplied by external vendors. - Train customer personnel on correct equipment operation, maintenance, and material use. - Plan customer visits, prioritize service calls, document work, and complete required activity and expense reporting on time.
Requirements
- Technical degree or equivalent technical preparation. - Three to five years of experience with food-packaging materials and machinery. - Mechanical and electrical aptitude sufficient to troubleshoot most packaging-machine issues independently. - Willingness to travel 60% or more and possession of a valid driver’s license. - Strong verbal and written communication skills. - Customer-focused, collaborative, proactive, technically capable, and results-oriented working style.
