Role overview
Provide field-based technical assistance to customers using packaging machinery, films, and shrink-bag materials. The role combines mechanical and electrical troubleshooting with equipment service, packaging audits, installation support, customer training, and participation in material trials. It is a remote/home-based position in the United States with substantial travel.
Responsibilities
- Investigate customer requirements and troubleshoot packaging-machine, film, and shrink-bag performance issues. - Service equipment and conduct package, material, and machine audits to support reliable operation. - Assist with installation, commissioning, and start-up of packaging equipment, including systems supplied by outside vendors. - Participate in field trials for new packaging materials and provide technical input to relevant teams. - Train customers on safe equipment operation, maintenance practices, and appropriate material use. - Manage service-call priorities, schedules, travel, project tasks, and accurate activity reporting. - Build effective working relationships with customers, sales teams, and internal technical personnel.
Requirements
- Technical degree or equivalent technical preparation. - Three to five years of experience in the food-packaging industry, covering both materials and machinery. - Mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot most packaging-machine issues. - Willingness to travel 60% or more and possession of a valid driver’s license. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Demonstrated customer orientation, initiative, collaboration, technical expertise, and reliable execution.
