About this role

Role overview

Lead the development of new packaging products and improvements to existing products from concept through execution. This senior engineering role manages multiple high-profile projects, coordinates technical work across engineering and business functions, guides teams without direct reporting authority, and balances quality, reliability, cost, schedules, resources, and customer needs. The role is remote within the United States and requires approximately 50% travel.

Responsibilities

- Direct several product-development projects at the same time, including projects for assigned strategic accounts and additional customer work as needed. - Provide technical leadership across disciplines and coordinate decisions, work direction, issue resolution, and project communication. - Build resource plans, manage project budgets, and track capital and expense requirements for projects ranging from approximately $50,000 to $1 million. - Interpret process and product data, including SPC information, to guide quality, reliability, and development decisions. - Lead cross-functional teams, internal and external customers, clients, vendors, and business stakeholders without relying on direct reporting relationships. - Develop practical engineering standards, policies, and design principles, and help establish them as repeatable departmental practices. - Identify customer needs and product opportunities while adapting plans to changing workplace, process, and business requirements.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field; packaging engineering is preferred. - At least eight years of experience working with injection and blow-molding equipment, tooling, and processing. - Deep technical knowledge of the relevant plastics-processing industry and awareness of industry trends affecting customers. - Strong understanding of SPC, quality practices, project budgeting, and technical problem-solving. - Working knowledge of extrusion blow molding, injection stretch blow molding, injection blow molding, and injection molding; plastics processing and tooling-build experience are advantageous. - Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, and MS Project; CAD experience is a plus. - Strong written and verbal communication, customer focus, decision-making, teamwork, innovation, and ability to manage ambiguity.
