Role overview
Lead a project engineering function responsible for selecting, prioritizing, and delivering complex capital and manufacturing projects. This director-level role combines technical leadership, project governance, engineering-team workload management, stakeholder coordination, and accountability for scope, cost, schedule, safety, quality, and final verification, including projects lasting more than a year.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the project engineering group, determine which requests become active projects, assign work, and balance engineering capacity. - Guide engineers through technical challenges and act as a technical counterpart to commercial and manufacturing leadership. - Manage projects from concept and quoting through sourcing, justification, capital approval, execution, commissioning, verification, and closeout. - Own project plans, specifications, budgets, timelines, deliverables, risk management, and approved changes in strategy or approach. - Coordinate with plant managers, directors, suppliers, senior leaders, and cross-functional partners to keep projects aligned and progressing. - Report schedule, cost, scope, and deliverable deviations, conduct post-project reviews, and verify corrective or continuous-improvement actions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent relevant experience. - Experience managing large, complex, multi-million-dollar projects and multiple simultaneous priorities. - Proven leadership, project-management, organizational, time-management, and written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to research emerging technologies, evaluate alternatives, make recommendations, and use data to support decisions. - Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office. - Willingness to travel approximately 50%, including some international travel.
