Managing Engineer - Cloud Security Engineering
Job details
About this role
Role overview
A hands-on engineering leadership role inside a product security organization that delivers cloud security controls as software products embedded in cloud platforms and developer workflows. The position blends people management, technical direction, and direct contribution to production systems that make secure-by-default behavior easier for the broader engineering community.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow an engineering team delivering cloud security capabilities, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and career development. - Set technical direction and drive execution across design, implementation, deployment, and production support of cloud security services. - Provide hands-on technical leadership through architecture reviews, design decisions, code reviews, and direct contribution to critical work. - Own reliability, performance, effectiveness, and continuous improvement of the team's products in production. - Partner with digital product managers, platform teams, and engineering stakeholders to align roadmaps, priorities, and dependencies. - Champion modern delivery practices such as test-driven development, pair programming, and fast feedback loops. - Translate complex security requirements into scalable engineering patterns and automated controls. - Lead agile execution with a focus on delivery outcomes over process ceremony.
Requirements
- At least five years of professional software, cloud, platform, or security engineering experience with measurable ownership of production systems. - At least two years leading and developing engineers, including coaching, architecture reviews, and code review. - Deep experience securing environments across AWS, Azure, and GCP, including cloud-native services and security controls. - Strong proficiency in Python, Bash, and Terraform, with the ability to review infrastructure-as-code and guide solution design. - Ability to convert security requirements and risks into reusable patterns and automated controls. - Demonstrated success leading complex initiatives across multiple teams and delivering measurable outcomes.
Nice to have
- Experience designing or operating security controls embedded in CI/CD pipelines, developer workflows, or shared platform services. - Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and the security considerations of containerized environments. - Track record mentoring senior engineers and influencing adoption of secure patterns across product areas.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote-eligible position with a company-provided laptop, monitors, headset, keyboard, and mouse. - Monthly connectivity reimbursement for home-based employees. - Requires a dedicated, distraction-free home workspace and reliable internet with minimum 50 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload speeds.
