Role Summary

This is a great opportunity to contribute to the design and development of Naphora’s mobile games, working on gameplay from early concepts and prototypes through to testing and release.

You’ll help create engaging player experiences by designing and iterating mechanics, levels, progression, balancing, and features using player feedback, data, and strong game design principles.

You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, Art, QA, and Data in a fast-paced development environment where experimentation, rapid iteration, and learning are a big part of how we build games.

Responsibilities

Game Design & Development

- Design and iterate gameplay mechanics, features, levels, and player experiences

- Create and maintain clear game design documentation and feature specifications

- Design and balance progression, gameplay difficulty, rewards, power-ups, and other game systems

- Prototype and test new mechanics and gameplay ideas

- Support the design and balancing of game economies, progression, and monetization systems

- Take increasing ownership of features from initial concept through implementation and release

Testing & Optimization

- Conduct regular playtests and identify opportunities to improve gameplay and the overall player experience

- Use gameplay metrics, player feedback, and design judgment to inform design decisions

- Test, learn, and iterate quickly based on results

- Identify balancing issues and recommend practical improvements

- Stay up to date with Hybrid Casual, Free-to-Play, and broader mobile gaming trends and competitor games

Collaboration & LiveOps

- Work closely with Engineers, Artists, QA, Product, and Data throughout the development process

- Communicate design requirements clearly and collaborate with the team during implementation

- Support LiveOps through new content, events, features, and gameplay improvements

- Ensure features support the overall product vision, player experience, and business objectives

- Contribute ideas and solutions during prototyping, experimentation, and product discussions

Success Looks Like

- Designing gameplay and features that contribute positively to player engagement and the overall game experience

- Prototyping, testing, and iterating ideas quickly

- Using data, player feedback, and design judgment to continuously improve features

- Taking ownership of assigned features and following them through from concept to release

- Producing clear and practical design documentation that cross-functional teams can work from

- Collaborating effectively with Product, Engineering, Art, QA, and Data

- Demonstrating strong attention to detail while understanding the bigger product picture

- Developing a strong understanding of how design decisions impact retention, engagement, monetization, and scalability

- Learning quickly, actively seeking feedback, and applying it to future work

Qualifications

- 1–3 years of Game Design experience, including relevant professional, academic, indie, or personal game projects

- Strong understanding of game design fundamentals, player psychology, gameplay loops, and player progression

- Strong interest in mobile games, particularly Hybrid Casual and Free-to-Play games

- Experience creating game design documentation, feature specifications, and balancing spreadsheets

- Basic understanding of progression systems, game economies, rewards, and monetization mechanics

- Familiarity with Unity and game development pipelines

- Comfortable using Excel or Google Sheets for balancing, analysis, and design work

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with good attention to detail

- Able to communicate ideas clearly and collaborate effectively across different disciplines

- Comfortable receiving feedback, iterating quickly, and adapting as games evolve

- Proactive, curious, and eager to learn and develop as a Game Designer

- Portfolio demonstrating game design work, prototypes, game jams, or shipped titles is highly desirable

- Fluent in English
