Job details
About this role
Role overview Help customers diagnose difficult database replication and data-sync problems while contributing fixes to the connectors that move their data. This is a hands-on engineering and support role: you will investigate real customer environments, explain findings clearly, and work with engineering and product teams to improve database integrations. The work covers database sources and destinations, warehouses, and data lakes.
Responsibilities - Handle escalated database issues through written support, tickets, and video calls, prioritizing cases against service targets. - Reproduce reported problems by examining connector logs, query plans, replication and transaction logs, sync state, and destination data. - Guide customers through networking, SSH tunnels, permissions, SSL, change data capture, authentication, and sync recovery. - Investigate behavior across database engines, warehouses, lake storage, and object stores, including schema changes and incremental syncs. - Contribute Java and Kotlin fixes to open-source database connectors and shared connector development tools; review and test community contributions. - Share technical findings with engineering and product teams, and keep support guidance current as supported systems evolve.
Requirements - Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to customers and internal teams. - Practical software development ability, especially with Java or Kotlin and debugging production behavior. - Strong database troubleshooting skills, including SQL, query plans, replication, change data capture, and transaction logs. - Ability to manage multiple customer issues, prioritize urgent cases, and document reproducible findings. - Comfort learning unfamiliar tools and working across support, engineering, and product teams.
Nice to have Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, ClickHouse, data lake formats such as Iceberg or Delta Lake, or cloud object storage. Connector contributions, container orchestration, CI/CD, B2B platform support, and AI-assisted support workflows are also useful.
Benefits and work setup The role is remote within the U.S. Benefits include flexible paid time off, parental leave, health coverage, a retirement plan, and professional development support.
