Senior Staff Software Engineer, Guest & Host

Role overview A senior technical leadership role on a two-sided marketplace platform, focused on the systems and experiences that connect guests seeking accommodations with hosts offering them. The position combines deep individual technical work with cross-team influence and architectural direction for products serving millions of users across both sides of the marketplace.

Responsibilities - Lead the technical design and architecture of marketplace features serving guest and host experiences at scale - Drive large, multi-quarter engineering initiatives spanning several teams and services - Partner with product, design, and data counterparts to deliver reliable, high-performance platform capabilities - Mentor senior and staff-level engineers and raise the technical bar across adjacent teams - Investigate complex, ambiguous problems in areas such as trust, safety, matching, or transaction flows - Contribute to long-term platform strategy and engineering excellence practices

Requirements - Extensive experience as a software engineer building consumer-scale products or two-sided marketplaces - Proven track record leading complex, multi-quarter technical initiatives end to end - Strong background in distributed systems, API design, and service-oriented architecture - Excellent collaboration and communication skills across technical and non-technical partners - Experience mentoring engineers at multiple levels and influencing without formal authority

Nice to have - Background in marketplaces, e-commerce, trust and safety, or reputation systems - Familiarity with experimentation platforms and data-driven product development practices
