Staff Software Engineer, Frontend (Decisions Orechestration)

Role overview

Lead frontend engineering direction for a digital checkout experience, covering both the screens customers use and the orchestration and state management behind them. This staff-level role sets a longer-term technical course, supports delivery of major initiatives, and strengthens reliability and engineering quality across core checkout flows.

Responsibilities - Establish team technical strategy over an approximately year-long planning horizon and align it with consequential delivery work. - Work with product, design, and analytics partners to understand technical trade-offs, manage risks, and support sustainable product decisions. - Define and promote technical approaches and operational practices that increase the team’s effectiveness. - Ensure services are prepared for ongoing operation through suitable monitoring, testing, alerting, incident processes, playbooks, and on-call rotations. - Establish code review and design standards, and communicate practices through technical writing and talks. - Support team growth with practical feedback, coaching, and strong engineering examples.

Requirements - Eight or more years building and architecting web applications using a declarative UI framework such as React or Vue. - Strong JavaScript or TypeScript skills. - Experience creating technical and execution plans for major features or system changes, including deprecations, and producing maintainable code. - Comfort working through ambiguous problems across both low-level implementation details and broader system architecture. - Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to incorporate feedback from engineering and partner teams. - A bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent practical experience.

Benefits and work setup

Remote-first position available to candidates in the United States. Annual base pay is listed as $230,000–$290,000 in California, Washington, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, and $204,000–$264,000 in other states. The overall package may include equity, monthly stipends for technology, health, and wellness, and medical, dental, and vision coverage.
