Role overview

Lead major engineering initiatives for systems that assess fraud risk and help protect buyers, merchants, and the business while supporting growth. You will guide work from problem definition and architecture through delivery, monitoring, and maintenance, partnering across product, machine learning, analytics, and business teams. The role also calls for technical mentorship, thoughtful design, and influence on engineering quality and hiring.

Responsibilities

- Plan and deliver large cross-functional initiatives, including technical specifications, task breakdown, implementation, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance. - Design systems that are clear to deploy and debug, account for failure cases, and produce high-quality, maintainable code. - Review code and provide constructive feedback that supports consistent engineering standards. - Mentor engineers, provide context, and help teammates take ownership of their parts of complex initiatives. - Bring stakeholder needs together, advocate for sound technical choices, and build shared understanding across teams. - Participate in technical and communication skills assessments and help shape interview materials and requirements.

Requirements

- Six or more years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership and mentoring; the listing indicates a typical range of 6–10+ years. - Experience architecting, building, launching, coding, and maintaining complex systems. - Ability to synthesize complex business, product, and technical requirements into high-quality system designs. - Systems-level thinking: ability to map business and product needs into appropriate components or modules. - Strong collaboration skills and interest in working with product, machine learning, analytics, and business partners. - A related bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Listed annual base salary ranges are $230,000–$290,000 in California, Washington, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, and $204,000–$264,000 in other U.S. states.
