Principle Software Engineer

Role overview Design and deliver services for a technology platform spanning infrastructure, data, applications, and security across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. The role combines hands-on full-stack engineering with technical leadership: guiding design, raising engineering standards, and building secure, scalable services that improve platform efficiency and reliability.

Responsibilities - Design, build, document, and test platform services and applications, including REST APIs and web services. - Lead technical design and engineering work with product, business, and subject-matter partners. - Review and approve code, mentor developers, and improve architecture patterns and development practices. - Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines, automated tests, and infrastructure-as-code approaches. - Integrate platform services with existing systems, troubleshoot production issues, and provide operational support. - Contribute to service roadmaps, engineering documentation, and process improvements.

Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent practical experience. - At least 10 years of programming experience with Python or an equivalent language, plus 5+ years supervising developers and reviewing code through established development processes. - Experience writing maintainable, unit-tested code and automated acceptance tests. - Proficiency building RESTful APIs and web services, with a strong understanding of cybersecurity risks and secure application design. - Track record delivering improvements through CI/CD and supporting highly available services. - Experience collaborating in dynamic teams and working with Agile or Scrum methods.

Nice to have - Site reliability engineering or financial services experience. - Familiarity with tools and technologies such as streaming and queuing systems, build pipelines, workflow orchestration, relational and in-memory databases, configuration management, containers, identity and access management, monitoring, and alerting.
