Software Engineer II, Backend (Identity Decisioning)

Role overview Join an Identity Decisioning engineering team responsible for the backend services that verify consumer identities across multiple consumer finance products. The work centers on meeting regulatory protocols such as Know Your Customer (KYC) and integrating identity validation into a broad product surface.

Responsibilities - Decompose larger initiatives into well-scoped tasks and ship them in incremental phases. - Partner with product management, design, and analytics through ideation, surfacing technical constraints, and co-authoring decisions. - Maintain production health by defining and observing service metrics, escalating when thresholds are breached, and contributing to on-call rotations. - Strengthen team culture through mentorship-oriented activities such as interviewing, onboarding, and peer development.

Requirements - 1.5+ years of professional software engineering experience. - Hands-on background designing, building, and launching backend systems, with proficiency in Python or Kotlin. - Familiarity with the building blocks of distributed systems and practical experience with technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes. - Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to explain technical tradeoffs to cross-functional partners.
