Software Engineer II, Backend (Batch Developer Experience)

Role overview Build tools and systems that make batch software faster to develop, easier to test, and more reliable in production. You’ll work with product and infrastructure partners to improve workflows and support critical batch workloads, delivering projects in manageable stages with guidance from a technical lead and manager.

Responsibilities - Break larger engineering projects into tasks and deliver them across phases with teammates. - Collaborate with product, design, and analytics partners to shape solutions and weigh technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs. - Build and maintain backend tools and systems that improve batch development and testing. - Monitor service health through metrics, raise operational issues, and contribute to on-call and maintenance work. - Participate in team growth activities, including interviewing.

Requirements - At least 1.5 years of software engineering experience, or equivalent practical background; a related bachelor’s degree is also accepted. - Experience designing, building, and launching backend systems, with proficiency in Python or Kotlin. - Familiarity with distributed systems and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes. - Ability to turn a business problem into a solution spanning multiple components, with clear, tested, extensible code. - Comfort working in a large codebase, debugging existing code, and reviewing colleagues’ work. - Strong written and verbal communication, a collaborative approach, and initiative in seeking feedback.
