Job details
About this role
Role overview A Series A autonomy company building self-driving technology for airline ground operations is hiring a senior staff engineer to lead its perception stack. The role focuses on designing 3D detection systems that fuse camera, LiDAR, and radar data, and on taking models from research through production deployment at airports and ramp environments.
Responsibilities - Architect 3D object detection models, including multi-modal sensor fusion across camera, LiDAR, and radar inputs. - Design and maintain the data collection and evaluation pipeline that powers training and metrics. - Build a proprietary multi-modal dataset tailored to ground-handling scenes. - Train, deploy, and monitor 2D and 3D detection models in production. - Define and execute the perception roadmap, working across sensing, preprocessing, detection, and tracking. - Mentor junior engineers and raise the team's engineering practices.
Requirements - Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Deep Learning, or a related field. - 7+ years of focused experience architecting and deploying 2D and 3D object detection models. - Hands-on work across the full perception stack, from sensing and preprocessing through detection and tracking. - Strong Python proficiency for modeling, data, and tooling work. - Demonstrated ability to identify gaps and lead cross-functional projects.
Nice to have - PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or a closely related discipline. - Full-stack autonomous vehicle knowledge spanning planning, prediction, and controls. - Prior experience architecting perception systems end to end. - Publications at major venues such as CVPR, ICRA, NeurIPS, IJCAI, or AAAI.
