Role overview A four-month contract opportunity for a seasoned Lead Product Designer to step into an established family-focused product team and drive committed initiatives from problem framing through high-fidelity design and engineering handoff. The role covers a teammate's leave while advancing active roadmap work in the kids and youth investing space, partnering closely with product and engineering leads. The team operates remote-first with optional access to office space in Irvine, CA.
Responsibilities - Lead design direction across multiple initiatives spanning kids and early-stage investing products, owning the path from concept through delivery. - Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to shape scope, negotiate tradeoffs, and keep delivery on schedule. - Translate business goals and customer research into clear product concepts and an experience strategy that builds clarity and trust for parents and kids. - Prototype and test ideas rapidly to validate direction before committing engineering resources. - Mentor and critique other designers on the team, elevating craft, consistency, and shared standards. - Present work and rationale to senior stakeholders, building alignment across functions, and contributing to the design system while supporting build and QA.
Requirements - 8+ years of product design experience with a portfolio of shipped consumer mobile work and examples of leading projects end to end. - Demonstrated ability to set design direction and align product, engineering, and leadership partners. - Strong strategic and conceptual thinking paired with excellent interaction and visual craft. - Ability to ramp quickly on existing projects and make sound decisions with partial context. - Experience guiding other designers through feedback and critique. - Clear, confident communication and storytelling with senior stakeholders, plus fluency in Figma and modern prototyping tools.
Nice to have - Background in fintech, investing, or family-oriented consumer products.
