Director of Product Management, Early Childhood & Public Sector Solutions
Job details
About this role
Role overview
Own product strategy and hands-on execution for a portfolio of technology solutions that help public agencies strengthen early childhood systems. The portfolio includes infrastructure and AI-enabled tools for organizing information, coordinating services, and supporting decisions. The role turns project-based capabilities into repeatable products while balancing shared product needs with the policies, workflows, data, and implementation requirements of individual public-sector customers.
Responsibilities
- Define the portfolio’s product vision, value proposition, target users, core capabilities, and roadmap; convert prototypes and delivery approaches into products with repeatable functionality and support models. - Own discovery, backlog, prioritization, and release planning, using customer value, commercial opportunity, strategic fit, risk, effort, scalability, and expected impact to guide decisions. - Lead product-level architecture decisions about platforms, data models, integrations, APIs, configurability, and whether to build, buy, or partner; align with security and platform standards. - Shape responsible AI capabilities, including requirements for human oversight, data use, transparency, quality, privacy, and ongoing performance monitoring. - Gather customer and market insight with sales, implementation teams, and agencies; distinguish broadly shared needs from customer-specific requests. - Partner with business, technical, data, and customer-facing teams to evaluate opportunities, communicate product tradeoffs, and ensure solutions are maintainable, secure, accessible, interoperable, and scalable.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. - At least 7 years of progressive product management, product ownership, or technical product leadership, including taking complex digital products from discovery through launch and improvement. - Hands-on strength in product discovery, roadmaps, backlog management, requirements and acceptance criteria, agile delivery, release planning, and product analytics. - Technical fluency to lead decisions involving software architecture, data models, APIs, cloud platforms, security, privacy, and vendors; day-to-day software engineering is not required. - Ability to lead through influence in a lean, cross-functional environment, navigate ambiguity, and communicate decisions clearly across customer, policy, business, design, delivery, and technical audiences.
Nice to have
- Experience with AI-enabled, analytics, workflow, or decision-support products, including responsible AI, data governance, privacy, transparency, and human-centered design. - Background in government, govtech, education, health and human services, or another regulated, data-intensive setting; familiarity with early childhood systems or public benefits is a plus. - People management experience is helpful but not required.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote role with work-related travel. The source describes travel as up to 20% in one section and approximately 25% in another. - Listed annual salary range: $110,000–$140,000. The source gives a Fall/Winter 2026 hiring timeframe. - Benefits include medical, dental, and vision plans; HSA and FSA options; a 401(k) with up to 4% company match; disability and basic life insurance; professional development reimbursement; employee assistance and wellness programs; and additional insurance and discount options.
