Software Engineer 1 - Data Platforms

Role overview

Contribute to the shared data infrastructure behind data-intensive software and analytics work. You’ll help build and operate platform components, services, and tools that let other teams use large-scale data systems more easily, while developing your skills with support from experienced engineers.

Responsibilities - Help design, develop, and operate core data platform components. - Build services and tools that make data systems easier for engineering teams to adopt and scale. - Automate infrastructure and operational tasks to improve reliability, performance, and capacity. - Explore generative AI approaches for improving developer and operator tools. - Work with other engineering teams on data platform scalability and reliability challenges. - Deliver features and projects end to end with guidance from senior engineers.

Requirements - At least 1 year of software engineering experience; backend, distributed systems, or infrastructure experience is useful. - Programming ability in Python, Go, or a comparable language; experience may come from work, school, or personal projects. - Fundamentals in data structures, readable code, testing, and debugging. - Interest in learning cloud services and data technologies, including databases, streaming, and orchestration. - Curiosity, problem-solving ability, and willingness to ask questions. - Able to communicate well and work independently as well as collaboratively.

Nice to have - Exposure to Kafka, Kinesis, or Flink; cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure; or large-scale, data-intensive systems.

Benefits and work setup The stated base salary range is $122,400–$176,000 USD. The role may also be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, and benefits, with compensation determined in part by experience, qualifications, and location.
