About this role

Role overview Design, build, and operate AI, machine learning, and large language model capabilities supporting a large federal cybersecurity program. The role partners closely with security engineers, architects, data scientists, software developers, and government stakeholders to deliver production-grade, responsible AI systems that strengthen enterprise security posture. Work spans the full model lifecycle, from data preparation through deployment, evaluation, and ongoing monitoring.

Responsibilities - Design, develop, train, test, deploy, and maintain AI and machine learning models for enterprise and government use cases. - Operationalize AI/ML solutions that are reliable, scalable, and maintainable, with appropriate model controls and documentation. - Collect, clean, transform, and analyze structured and unstructured data to support model development and evaluation. - Evaluate AI technologies, frameworks, and architectures, recommending approaches for federal and cybersecurity workloads. - Build and support generative AI and LLM capabilities, including prompt design, classifiers, fine-tuning, safety filters, and content moderation. - Assess AI-generated outputs for accuracy, factuality, bias, and overall performance before integration into production efforts. - Produce technical documentation, briefings, and artifacts that clearly communicate architecture, risks, and recommended actions.

Requirements - At least 10 years of experience in IT security, data science, or software engineering, including 5 or more years designing, developing, or deploying AI/ML systems in enterprise or government environments. - A PhD in a related field may substitute for up to 5 years of the required experience. - Hands-on expertise building, training, and deploying machine learning models and AI systems in production. - Strong data collection, cleaning, and analysis skills to prepare datasets for modeling. - Demonstrated ability to apply AI solutions to real problems in large enterprises or agencies comparable to major federal departments. - Proven cross-functional collaboration with data scientists, software developers, and domain experts.

Nice to have - Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline. - Advanced security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CCISO, GSLC, GCIH, GCED, CCNP Security, or equivalent.

Benefits and work setup - Salary range of approximately $98,000–$135,000 USD, dependent on experience and other factors. - Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), disability coverage, paid time off, holidays, FSA/HSA, telehealth, and employee assistance resources. - Applicants may be subject to a background investigation and eligibility requirements for access to classified information. - Limited onsite travel, up to two visits per year.
