Principal Product Manager, Security
Job details
About this role
Role overview Serve as the principal product leader shaping security strategy across a cybersecurity company's product portfolio, bridging deep security engineering and customer-facing product teams. The role demands enough cryptographic and architectural fluency to earn engineers' trust while championing usable, adopted security controls that move the business forward.
Responsibilities - Set the standard for how product work is done, coaching and challenging assumptions across product, engineering, design, security research, and go-to-market teams. - Translate security priorities, cryptographic detail, and architectural decisions into clear, actionable guidance for feature teams. - Make and defend risk-based tradeoffs, explaining them clearly to engineers, executives, and customers. - Influence roadmaps owned by other teams without formal authority, using credibility and clear communication. - Drive product decisions grounded in a commitment to verifiable security, with measurable quality and business outcomes. - Integrate AI thoughtfully across the product and software development lifecycle, applying the same principles used for security: clear guardrails, human accountability, and rigorous evaluation before shipping.
Requirements - 10+ years of product management experience, including significant time on security-critical products or platforms in a SaaS environment; equivalent depth from security engineering or research roles is welcome. - Deep knowledge of security fundamentals: cryptography, authentication protocols, identity and access management, zero-knowledge and end-to-end encrypted system design, and threat modeling. - Fluency in the credential and identity landscape, including passkeys, WebAuthn, FIDO, and the standards shaping how people sign in. - Track record of earning credibility with security engineering teams and reasoning through technical specifications, security audits, and cryptographic design documents. - Experience shipping security features that users actually adopt, using friction and adoption data to improve them. - Strong prioritization, collaboration, and communication skills, with accountability for quality and business results.
Nice to have - Experience setting platform or infrastructure-level strategy in a security-focused organization.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-first role within Canada and the United States, with travel expected for offsites, team meetings, and customer or industry events. - Health benefits, parental leave top-up, and a generous PTO policy. - RSU program for most employees, retirement matching, and a free product account. - Paid volunteer days and peer-to-peer recognition through a recognition platform. - AI tools are welcome during the application process, though live interviews are conducted without AI assistance.
