About this role
Role overview This leadership role owns the architecture, strategy, and ongoing evolution of a modern enterprise data platform while guiding both the central data team and federated business intelligence units toward an AI-ready operating posture. The position balances high-level platform strategy and governance with deeply hands-on technical work on data pipelines, models, and AI-enabled analytics.
Responsibilities - Define the long-term technical roadmap, architecture, and strategy for the enterprise data platform built on Snowflake, dbt, Matillion Data Productivity Cloud, and Streamlit, balancing modern operating models such as medallion and mesh against active delivery of high-impact business initiatives. - Enable decentralized business functions like Sales, Marketing, and Finance to be self-sufficient by establishing foundational Raw, Transform, and Analytics layers and standard data contracts for federated modeling. - Embed AI into pipelines and analytics by building complex ETL workflows, custom data applications, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation architectures, including Graph RAG, directly on the data platform. - Implement governance, data observability, and transparent cost attribution frameworks to optimize consumption and align the platform with cross-functional priorities.
Requirements - 5+ years of experience leading, mentoring, and growing high-performing data engineering, platform engineering, or analytics engineering teams. - Deep architectural and operational knowledge of Snowflake and dbt, including modeling standards and testing. - Demonstrated experience driving technical strategies that transition traditional data structures and BI teams into AI-ready units. - Hands-on knowledge of designing ETL pipelines, analytics layers, and serving RAG and Graph RAG architectures on cloud data platforms. - Strong software engineering foundation in Python and SQL, with CI/CD, Git, and automated testing practices.
Nice to have - Practical experience implementing or operating within a self-service data platform environment and a Data Mesh framework. - Hands-on familiarity with cloud-native ETL/ELT tools such as Matillion Data Productivity Cloud or comparable offerings. - Experience using Snowflake's advanced AI capabilities like Cortex and Snowpark, plus building custom data applications in Streamlit.
Benefits and work setup - Remote role within the United States, reporting to the Senior Director of Enterprise Data Platform. - Full-time position with a published base pay range of $196,000–$245,000 USD, plus benefits covering health plans, vacation and sick time, parental leave, retirement options, and education reimbursement.
