Principal Software Engineer

Role overview A Principal Software Engineer is needed to architect and deliver the next generation of a large-scale, unified data platform powering go-to-market data products. The role centers on building metadata-driven, federated GraphQL APIs and the streaming infrastructure that connects distributed stores such as BigTable, BigQuery, and Solr+. It is a senior, hands-on technical leadership position with cross-team influence over roadmap and architecture decisions.

Responsibilities - Design and build scalable infrastructure targeting sub-second query latency across multi-petabyte data stores. - Architect metadata-driven GraphQL APIs with dynamic schema generation and query federation across heterogeneous backends. - Develop asynchronous secondary indexing systems to offload primary stores and scale capacity. - Build real-time streaming pipelines from BigTable into BigQuery for analytics and derived views. - Implement CDC pipelines, mutation/deletion frameworks, and GDPR-compliant data lifecycle tooling. - Establish observability and monitoring for distributed data systems, and mentor engineers on cloud-native best practices.

Requirements - 10+ years building large-scale data platforms in a senior or principal capacity. - Strong proficiency in Java 8+, Scala, Kotlin, or Go applied to data systems. - Hands-on experience with distributed NoSQL databases, data warehouses, and GCP or AWS. - Production experience with Kubernetes, streaming/CDC architectures, and SQL performance tuning. - Demonstrated work building federated or metadata-driven GraphQL APIs. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have - Familiarity with crypto-agility, schema evolution tooling, and event-sourcing patterns. - Experience mentoring engineers and partnering with product managers on technical roadmaps.
