Role overview A large, rapidly scaling communication platform built around gaming communities is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to lead development of its next-generation experimentation platform. The platform powers A/B testing, statistical analysis, AI-assisted experimentation workflows, configuration tooling, and high-scale data pipelines that inform product decisions for millions of daily users. The role combines deep technical leadership, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration with non-technical and technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities - Design, build, and support the next generation of the experimentation platform, spanning core services, data pipelines, configuration tooling, statistical analysis tools, and user experience. - Lead and mentor engineers, fostering their growth and elevating technical skills across the team. - Influence product telemetry practices to ensure data supports experimentation needs. - Build delightful internal user experiences and high-scale data systems that serve product features used by millions. - Partner with stakeholders across product, machine learning, and analytics teams to design experiments and deliver measurable business outcomes.
Requirements - Seven or more years of experience as a full-stack software engineer. - Experience building internal tools and working with A/B testing and statistical frameworks. - Background with experimentation tooling; experience building core parts of an experimentation platform from scratch is a major plus. - Track record of leading complex technical projects from high-level goal to shipped solution. - Experience building systems with strong data governance, privacy, and security controls. - Proficiency in Python and SQL; experience with TypeScript or Rust is a plus. - Exposure to a variety of datastores including relational, NoSQL, and data warehouse solutions. - Strong product sense, communication skills, and demonstrated ability to develop engineers at multiple levels.
Nice to have - Experience building human-in-the-loop AI systems and AI product evaluation. - Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform or AWS. - Experience with modern data processing stacks. - Full-stack or product engineering background. - Deep understanding of statistics, data science, or large-scale data processing.
