Role overview
A mid-level Software Engineer II position supporting federal government clients, focused on designing and maintaining mission-critical applications. The role is fully remote within the United States and contributes to national security and civilian agency programs. Candidates must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy software solutions that meet client requirements and organizational standards - Refactor and tune existing systems and codebases to improve performance, scalability, and maintainability - Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver reliable, innovative software products - Diagnose and resolve technical issues, minimizing disruption to operations and end users - Conduct thorough code reviews and champion secure coding best practices across the team - Participate in architecture discussions and recommend system enhancements - Stay current on emerging technologies and apply learnings to drive continuous improvement - Take an active role in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience - Three to five years of professional software engineering experience delivering scalable solutions in a team environment - Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java and JavaScript - Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools including Docker and Kubernetes - Working knowledge of both SQL and NoSQL database systems - Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and secure coding practices - Clear written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration
