Role overview
The Platform Engineering Manager will lead one or more teams responsible for the developer-facing platforms, tooling, and shared services that power a large healthcare marketplace serving millions of patients. Sitting within an infrastructure organization, this is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on accelerating engineering velocity while protecting system reliability, privacy, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop high-performing platform engineering teams by setting clear expectations and delivering direct, actionable feedback. - Own delivery of the team roadmap, translating platform strategy into concrete priorities and milestones. - Maintain deep technical involvement in system architecture, ensuring platforms remain scalable, high-quality, and aligned with evolving organizational needs. - Perform rigorous reviews of high-impact code and coach engineers on effective use of modern development tools, including AI-assisted workflows. - Champion adoption and operational health of owned platform systems, ensuring they are well-built, well-used, and well-operated. - Build alignment and influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization.
Requirements
- Technically grounded engineering leader who stays connected to architectural detail while empowering teams. - Experience leading platform, infrastructure, or developer-experience teams in a high-impact setting. - Track record of driving consistent execution against strategic priorities. - Strong coaching orientation and commitment to cultivating inclusive, high-trust environments. - Ability to navigate organizational ambiguity and translate broad strategy into actionable plans. - Genuine investment in developer experience, platform adoption, and engineering productivity.
Nice to have
- Experience working in healthcare or other regulated domains where reliability and privacy are fundamental to outcomes. - Familiarity with AI-assisted development practices and modern platform abstractions.
