Role overview A lead product manager role owning the job-seeker messaging portfolio for a large online employment marketplace. The position covers email and push notifications at scale, deciding which messages exist, who receives them and when, and how to balance message volume against job-seeker trust and long-term retention.
Responsibilities - Take full accountability for the job-seeker messaging domain, from portfolio-level KPIs to the details of individual message performance - Lead the thinking behind which of dozens of message types go out, when, how many, and through which channels - Own key metrics including applications delivered, activation and retention, unsubscribes and complaint rates, and revenue carried by email placements, and interrogate the why behind the numbers - Design experiments and resolve them with judgment about long-term business health, beyond short-term engagement - Partner with engineering on the messaging platform, with ranking and matching teams on relevance inside sends, and with marketplace teams on supply and demand - Protect the channel through deliverability, sender reputation, compliance, and opt-in/opt-out systems - Serve as the voice of the job seeker for off-platform touchpoints through direct conversation and research
Requirements - 7+ years of proven success in product management with a track record of delivering results - Strong SQL fluency and comfort designing and reading A/B experiments - Owned email, push, or lifecycle messaging products at consumer scale, with an understanding of the tension between engagement volume and user trust - AI/ML fluency, including shipping product features powered by ranking, relevance, or recommendation models - Customer-obsessed, with a history of direct user research - Strong written and verbal communication and effective collaboration across engineering, data science, design, and go-to-market
Nice to have - Two-sided marketplace experience (such as jobs, real estate, or rideshare) - Experience building message selection, frequency capping, channel orchestration, or large-scale growth/CRM automation - Working knowledge of email deliverability, sender reputation, and SMS/RCS compliance
