IT Operations & Security Lead (Remote - US CT/ET)

Role overview

The IT Operations & Security Lead will own and mature internal IT and security operations as the organization scales. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who has been a second or third IT or security hire and helped build out processes as a company grew from a few hundred people to a much larger size. The position is remote within the US Central or Eastern time zone.

Responsibilities

- Own identity and access management, including user provisioning, role design, and access reviews across the organization - Lead endpoint management strategy and automation across the device fleet - Manage SaaS governance, including vendor evaluation, software licensing, and renewals - Support audit, certification, and compliance activities alongside Finance, People, and Business Systems - Coordinate incident response procedures, including detection, containment, and post-incident learning - Implement data protection controls and ensure traceability for sensitive actions

Requirements

- Experience as an early member of an IT, Corporate IT, or Security Operations team during a period of significant company growth - Hands-on depth in identity and access management, endpoint management, and workflow automation - Working grasp of SaaS governance, vendor and license management, audits and certification, incident response, and data protection - Strong foundational understanding of security principles and how controls map to business risk - Ability to weigh progress against perfection and prioritize improvements that matter most at the current stage - Ownership mindset with a bias for taking problems end-to-end

Nice to have

- Experience overhauling permissions systems, for example moving from hardcoded roles to granular, scoped models - Familiarity with audit logging, traceability, and admin tooling designed for non-technical users - Background introducing AI-assisted configuration and developer experience improvements
