About this role

Role overview

This director-level infrastructure leadership role owns the modernization and scaling of shared cloud capabilities supporting data-intensive products and engineering teams. You will lead cloud platform, site reliability, DevOps, and developer-experience strategy in an AWS environment using Kubernetes and Terraform. It is a player-coach position: you will set direction, make architecture decisions, remain technically engaged, and lead a globally distributed team while partnering with engineering leadership and adjacent security and IT functions.

Responsibilities

- Create and execute a unified modernization roadmap across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, Terraform, and the wider platform ecosystem. - Lead a small, high-leverage global team spanning platform engineering, SRE, and DevOps through coaching, prioritization, and sound technical judgment. - Provide reliable paved roads, reusable infrastructure, self-service workflows, and faster feedback loops that improve developer productivity. - Establish mature reliability practices covering service ownership, SLIs, SLOs, observability, incident response, error budgets, and post-incident follow-through. - Own disaster-recovery readiness, including recovery objectives, testing, automation, and remediation of resilience gaps. - Define a sustainable 24/7 operating model and improve cloud efficiency through cost attribution, capacity planning, resource utilization, automation, and measurable savings.

Requirements

- Leadership experience across cloud platform engineering, SRE, DevOps, or related infrastructure functions, with hands-on technical credibility. - Experience operating and transforming mature, business-critical production infrastructure, preferably in a data-intensive SaaS, analytics, or similarly complex environment. - Proven ownership of SLOs, incident management, production operations, disaster recovery, and sustainable on-call practices. - A track record of improving developer experience through self-service platforms, standardized workflows, internal adoption, or reduced engineering friction. - Ability to turn technical strategy into a practical roadmap, make tradeoffs, and influence senior engineering stakeholders through clear communication. - Experience delivering measurable cloud-cost or infrastructure-efficiency improvements; a bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience is expected.

Benefits and work setup

The role may be fully remote within the United States or based in an office hub. It follows US working hours with enough overlap for global collaboration and does not require travel. Benefits include flexible hours and vacation, retirement matching, parental leave, wellness support, learning reimbursement, team events, bonus eligibility, and equity.
