Remote job
Senior Engineering Manager, Infrastructure + Developer Productivity
Job details
About this role
Role overview
Lead the Infrastructure and Developer Productivity organization responsible for core platform capabilities, engineering efficiency, operational excellence, and AI enablement for a large consumer-facing product. The role balances reliability work—such as observability, incident response, service objectives, and production readiness—with investments that help engineers build and ship more effectively. You will set the roadmap, manage and grow engineering leaders and individual contributors, and partner closely with Product Engineering, Security, and Data.
Responsibilities
- Own the strategy, roadmap, and execution across infrastructure, developer productivity, and AI-enabled engineering workflows. - Hire, manage, and develop engineers, including responsibility for performance management and career growth. - Establish and improve observability standards, on-call practices, incident response, SLAs/SLOs, and production-readiness reviews. - Partner with engineering, security, and data leaders so platform decisions accelerate rather than constrain product delivery. - Define where AI-assisted development tools and workflows should be standardized, while allowing appropriate team-level flexibility. - Guide investments in reliability, developer tooling, internal environments, CI/CD, testing, and other productivity capabilities.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of engineering experience, including 5 or more years in engineering management. - Experience managing managers or senior individual contributors across multiple teams is strongly relevant. - Direct leadership experience with infrastructure, platform, or developer-productivity teams supporting a scaled consumer product. - Familiarity with cloud infrastructure such as AWS or GCP, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools. - Experience operating highly available, high-performance production systems. - Strong cross-functional communication and partnership skills with technical and product leadership.
Nice to have
- Experience building or scaling CI/CD systems, testing platforms, developer tooling, or internal development environments. - Experience introducing AI coding tools or agents at organizational scale, including adoption measurement and guardrails.
Benefits and work setup
- Fully remote work is available, or hybrid work with three days per week in offices in New York or San Francisco. - The source describes salary, equity, healthcare, flexible time off, holidays and recharge days, commuter and lifestyle support, learning stipends, parental leave, and retirement matching.
