Role overview A senior Azure DevOps engineer is needed to design, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes within an Azure-focused environment. The role combines hands-on infrastructure engineering with close collaboration across product teams to raise reliability, speed up delivery, and embed AI tooling into the everyday workflow.
Responsibilities - Build, maintain, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes on Microsoft Azure - Manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, primarily with Terraform - Operate containerization and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes - Maintain monitoring, logging, and observability tooling (e.g., Grafana, Checkmk) to keep production systems reliable - Integrate security checks into delivery workflows so that secure software releases are the default - Apply AI assistants for scripting, automation, and technical documentation as a regular part of DevOps work - Partner with engineering teams to improve deployment practices, infrastructure reliability, and operational efficiency - Contribute to Agile delivery rhythms using SAFe, Scrum, or comparable frameworks
Requirements - 5+ years of professional experience as a DevOps engineer - Practical, hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure - Strong background in CI/CD pipeline design, automation, and deployment workflows - Working knowledge of Terraform and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes - Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like Grafana and Checkmk, or equivalent solutions - Demonstrated use of AI tools in DevOps tasks, including code or script generation and documentation - Understanding of security practices and experience embedding security checks into delivery pipelines - Experience working in Agile environments (SAFe, Scrum, or similar) - German at C1 or native proficiency, with the ability to understand Swiss German, plus English at B2 or higher - Availability to work onsite in Zurich up to 40% of the time
Nice to have - Background supporting public-sector organizations or public companies - More structured application of generative AI across the SDLC, including defined workflows, prompt patterns, or tool integrations - Curiosity about emerging AI-driven practices such as agent-based workflows, automation patterns, and AI-augmented development
