Design Engineer

Role overview A design engineer position embedded directly within a product design team at a company that builds developer tools and infrastructure APIs. The role sits at the intersection of design and code, focusing on prototyping, building, and shipping polished interface experiences for dashboards, admin portals, and related developer-facing products. It is a craft-oriented, customer-validated position with significant influence on the company's design system and how product surfaces are built across the organization.

Responsibilities - Build production-quality components and interactions across the company's developer platform products - Prototype new concepts directly in code and experiment with emerging interaction patterns - Strengthen the internal design system by improving performance, state management, accessibility, and interaction behavior - Partner with product teams to test prototypes with real customers and ensure what ships meets a high bar - Work in the open, sharing work-in-progress early and pulling collaborators in to reach the right answer faster - Improve company-wide building practices through design system contributions and agent instructions for AI-assisted workflows

Requirements - A strong eye for design details and a track record of shipping polished, production interfaces - Ability to articulate the reasoning behind design decisions, not just the decisions themselves - Comfort operating at the seam between product design and front-end engineering - Proficiency building real product experiences in code (front-end frameworks and modern tooling) - Collaborative mindset, willing to share work early and iterate based on feedback - Care deeply about craft, accessibility, and the quality of interaction details

Nice to have - Experience contributing to or maintaining a design system at scale - Familiarity with AI-assisted prototyping or agent-driven design workflows - Background validating design concepts directly with customers or users
