Job details
About this role
Role overview Shape the player experience for early-stage casual free-to-play mobile games inside a small new-games team. The role blends UX validation, UI production, and supporting 2D art as a concept moves from quick prototyping through marketing validation toward a vertical slice and potential launch. It is a one-year fixed-term contract reporting to a Creative Director, with Berlin-based hybrid preferred and full remote considered within Berlin working hours.
Responsibilities - Design and build UI screens, icons, flows, buttons, and other game components that follow a defined art direction - Maintain and evolve UI style guides and design systems to keep screens and features consistent as the game grows - Own UX for new prototypes, ensuring that mechanics, including reimagined ones, feel intuitive and easy to onboard into - Translate game-design intent and monetization requirements into clear, player-friendly interfaces - Collaborate closely with artists, game designers, product managers, and engineers across disciplines - Scope, prioritize, and deliver work independently, shifting between conceptual and hands-on tasks as the project phase demands
Requirements - Prior experience in the mobile gaming industry, ideally with casual free-to-play titles - Strong UI design and execution skills paired with sharp UX instincts, with the range to move between UX validation and production work - Solid grasp of onboarding, retention, and monetization-friendly design patterns - 2D art skills for UI elements such as icons, popups, live-ops screens, and supporting visuals - Portfolio demonstrating work across UI production, UX validation, and supporting art - Ability to work autonomously, resolve ambiguous problems, and incorporate feedback from cross-functional partners - Proficiency with standard design tools such as Figma and Photoshop, plus Unity for implementation and testing
Nice to have - Comfort in a small team that prototypes quickly, wears multiple hats, and shifts between conceptual and hands-on contributions
Benefits and work setup - One-year fixed-term contract - Hybrid working model with roughly two in-office days per week, the rest flexible between home and office, plus up to 10 remote-from-abroad days per year (Berlin-based preferred, remote considered within Berlin hours) - Generous relocation and home-search support, including kindergarten partnerships and German language classes for employees and partners - Significant education budget, extra self-development days, and access to meet-ups, talks, brown-bag lunches, internal trainings, and workshops - Yoga, a mindfulness app, sports and transport subsidies, and a Purpose Day for volunteer time - Inclusive environment with explicit commitments to diversity across gender, orientation, background, and other identities
