Role overview
This is a remote, full-time Engineering Manager role leading a globally distributed Rapid Response organization with teams across the US, UK, and APAC. The position sits at the intersection of Engineering, Customer Success, and Sales, balancing urgent pre-sales requests, customer escalations, feature requests, and backend maintenance that keeps the platform stable. The work requires a leader who can operate across time zones while staying close enough to the technical work to make credible calls under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Manage, coach, and grow senior engineers across US, UK, and APAC teams, owning hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development - Set priorities across urgent pre-sales requests, customer incidents, customer-driven feature requests, and backend maintenance/integration work - Maintain continuous, follow-the-sun coverage for urgent customer and pre-sales needs across regions - Partner with Customer Success and Sales leadership to translate customer and deal-critical needs into engineering plans, and align customer-driven work with the broader platform roadmap - Establish and refine on-call, escalation, and incident response processes, owning the team's engineering quality bar including code quality, root-cause practices, and durable fixes over one-off patches - Report on team health, throughput, and customer outcomes to engineering and company leadership while removing blockers for the team
Requirements
- 5+ years managing software engineers, ideally across distributed or multi-region teams - Prior experience as a senior or staff software engineer, with the credibility to engage in technical discussions and unblock engineers - Background in cybersecurity, vulnerability management, or threat intelligence - Experience managing customer-facing, support, sustaining, or reliability engineering functions - Demonstrated ability to prioritize and sequence competing demands including urgent customer issues, pre-sales asks, and longer-term maintenance work - Solid understanding of backend systems, APIs, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), plus strong async communication habits
Nice to have
- Familiarity with CVE, NVD, KEV, or exploit intelligence datasets - Experience supporting pre-sales or deal-critical technical requests - Background in high-growth or startup environments - Hands-on experience with data pipelines, ETL systems, or high-volume data processing
