Role overview This role leads a Rapid Response engineering organization distributed across the US, UK, and APAC, providing follow-the-sun coverage for urgent customer and pre-sales technical needs. The manager oversees senior individual contributors who handle escalated customer issues, deal-critical requests, customer-driven feature work, and ongoing platform maintenance for an exploit intelligence product. The position balances hands-on people leadership with technical credibility, partnering closely with Customer Success, Sales, Product, and other Engineering groups.
Responsibilities - Manage and grow engineering teams in the US, UK, and APAC through coaching, career development, and hands-on leadership - Set priorities across urgent pre-sales requests, urgent customer issues, customer feature asks, and backend maintenance work - Ensure continuous coverage for urgent customer and pre-sales needs across time zones - Partner with Customer Success and Sales leadership to translate customer and deal-critical needs into engineering plans - Work with Product and other Engineering teams to fold customer-driven work into the broader platform roadmap - Set the engineering quality bar, including code quality, root-cause practices, and durable long-term fixes - Drive hiring, onboarding, performance management, and on-call or escalation processes across all three regions - Report on team health, throughput, and customer outcomes to engineering and company leadership
Requirements - Five or more years of experience managing software engineers, ideally across distributed or multi-region teams - Background in cybersecurity, vulnerability management, or threat intelligence - Prior experience as a senior or staff software engineer with credibility to engage in technical discussions - Experience leading customer-facing, support, sustaining, or reliability engineering teams - Demonstrated ability to prioritize and sequence urgent and long-term work across competing demands - Solid understanding of backend systems, APIs, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) - Strong async communication habits and the ability to work across multiple time zones - Customer-obsessed mindset with a track record of turning technical challenges into strong customer outcomes
Nice to have - Familiarity with CVE, NVD, KEV, or exploit intelligence datasets - Experience supporting pre-sales or deal-critical technical requests - Background in high-growth or startup environments - Experience with data pipelines, ETL systems, or high-volume data processing
