Role overview
This fully remote position focuses on building agentic AI features and backend services for a SaaS platform that delivers AI-driven training and knowledge tools to frontline workers. The role is a hands-on contributor seat on the development team, owning well-defined problems end-to-end while occasionally supporting frontend work. It suits an engineer who works independently, contributes to technical discussions, and brings craft discipline to a fast-moving codebase.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support high-quality code across the agentic AI and backend stack - Build, run, and consume MCP servers, including tool design, OAuth authentication, multi-tenant security, and deployment - Build LLM agents with tool or function calling and multi-agent orchestration patterns - Test and evaluate agent behavior, applying production-grade observability - Develop backend services in Python for AI and agent work and Java for core platform integration, with attention to performance and data quality - Use AI-assisted coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot as part of the daily workflow - Participate in code reviews and collaborate with product management and quality assurance to refine requirements
Requirements
- Several years of production software experience including Python and Java - Hands-on production experience building, running, and consuming MCP servers, with tool design, OAuth, multi-tenant security, and deployment - Practical experience building LLM agents with tool or function calling and multi-agent orchestration - Experience testing and evaluating agent behavior, with observability practices applied in production - Strong attention to detail and a clear commitment to unit and functional testing - Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent technical background through formal education or hands-on experience
Nice to have
- Experience with React and TypeScript - Familiarity with JavaScript design patterns and single-page applications
