Cyber Security Analyst

Role overview Monitor network and computing environments for suspicious activity as part of a round-the-clock security operations team. The analyst investigates alerts across online and on-premises systems, identifies likely attack activity, and helps contain threats while improving detection quality.

Responsibilities - Review SIEM outputs, alerts, tickets, and system, network, and security logs to identify actionable events. - Triage incidents, determine likely attack types, and apply established processes to block or contain threats. - Analyze system and network activity with attention to relevant indicators and attack techniques. - Record cases with clear investigative notes, supporting artifacts, and indicators of compromise. - Review false positives and provide feedback that can improve security tools, rules, and alert quality. - Identify data gaps and potential fixes, sharing analysis with the lead analyst.

Requirements - University-level education or equivalent in information security, forensics, computer science, or a related area; relevant training and experience may also qualify. - Multiple years of industry experience in security monitoring, incident analysis, threat analysis, or vulnerability analysis. - Understanding of SOC analysis, incident identification and handling, and false-positive reduction. - Good technical knowledge of computing protocols, authentication, and attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures. - Intermediate knowledge of information security principles and technologies, with experience or understanding of Windows, Linux, Oracle, and virtual machine environments. - Strong written and spoken English communication skills.

Nice to have - GIAC Certified Incident Handler, GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst, or an equivalent certification. - Self-direction, willingness to learn, and the ability to work calmly under pressure.
