Business Development Engineer - Mission Systems

Role overview Shape technical solutions for new business opportunities and growth programs by connecting customer needs with engineering capabilities and business objectives. This mid- to senior-level role combines engineering judgment, strategy, writing, and customer engagement, from early concept development through proposals and briefings.

Responsibilities - Lead or support technical capture work from initial concepts through proposal submission. - Develop solution concepts and architectures that address customer needs, constraints, and evaluation criteria. - Translate customer problems into clear, practical technical approaches and identify features that distinguish a proposed solution. - Write or contribute to white papers, technical proposal sections, concept papers, and presentation materials. - Coordinate with program management, capture, and engineering colleagues to keep technical submissions accurate, aligned, and compliant. - Explain proposed solutions to customers and internal stakeholders through written materials and briefings.

Requirements - Currently hold a TS/SCI security clearance. - Bring engineering credibility across multiple technical domains. - Communicate complex technical ideas clearly in writing and presentations. - Work effectively with customer-facing, engineering, program management, and business development teams. - Apply technical judgment to customer problems and develop solutions that align with strategic objectives.

Benefits and work setup The listed annual base salary range is $180,500–$285,000, with a higher range specified for certain metropolitan areas. Additional incentives and benefits may be available.
