About this role
Role overview A payments-focused Solutions Architect is needed to partner with enterprise merchants and payment companies on complex payment infrastructure challenges. The role bridges deep technical discovery with commercial deal support, helping customers design secure, scalable integrations across tokenization, credential management, and sensitive payment data workflows. It is a customer-facing, technically strategic position that also feeds market insight back into product and go-to-market planning.
Responsibilities - Run technical discovery with customers, sales, and account management to clarify business goals, requirements, risks, and product gaps. - Map end-to-end payment flows across merchants, PSPs, processors, acquirers, card networks, wallets, and third parties, then architect solutions spanning vaulting, card management, network and agentic tokens, Account Updater, 3DS, wallet payments, account validation, and data security. - Guide customers on payment security best practices, PCI scope reduction, credential portability, multi-processor setups, resiliency, and scaling while flagging technical and commercial risks early. - Lead technical strategy across the deal lifecycle, producing architecture diagrams, proposals, demos, proofs of concept, and responses for RFIs, RFPs, security reviews, and architecture assessments. - Partner with customer engineers on APIs, webhooks, authentication, data models, error handling, and integrations, then deliver detailed handoffs covering assumptions, responsibilities, testing, and success metrics, providing oversight through launch. - Translate field feedback into product roadmap and go-to-market input, build reusable reference architectures and enablement assets, and act as a payments subject matter expert in workshops, executive briefings, and industry events.
Requirements - 5+ years in solutions architecture, sales engineering, technical consulting, payment implementation, software engineering, or a comparable technical customer-facing role. - Hands-on experience with large-scale card or credential migrations and with multi-PSP, payment orchestration, processor-routing, or payment portability strategies. - Background at a merchant, PSP, processor, acquirer, issuer, card network, or other payment infrastructure organization. - Working knowledge of PCI DSS, data security, privacy, and compliance architecture. - Proficiency with web services, APIs, and full-stack development, with the ability to reason about how diverse technologies and systems interact. - Strong written and verbal communication, including clear technical diagrams and executive-level presentations, plus collaboration, negotiation, and prioritization skills. - Comfort writing production-grade reference code in Python, JavaScript, Java, or Ruby.
Nice to have - Experience with tokenization, payment processing, or security products. - A bachelor's degree and an aptitude for creative problem solving in a fast-paced startup environment. - Industry certifications such as PCI QSA, CPP, CISSP, or AWS Solutions Architect. - Direct experience with card network programs such as Visa or Mastercard, including network tokenization or Account Updater services.
